Shop Q&A

Q: Do you make all the items in your shop?

A: I illustrate and design each item, and my designs are then sent to a manufacturer to produce my charms, stationery and mousepads. I illustrate, design and press each mug in my shop.

Q: How are your mugs made/what are they made of?

A: All mugs are made of food-safe ceramic and are pressed using sublimation techniques. I use a sublimation printer, sublimation paper and a heat press to transfer my designs to mugs.

Sublimation is a process that requires heat and pressure to transfer images to various surfaces. In order for mugs to sublimate properly, they must be prepared with a special coating for sublimation. The mugs I choose to press have been prepared with a AAA polymer coating to ensure a clean vibrant transfer.

Q: What is your art/design process?

A: I'm a digital illustrator, meaning I create artwork on a computer using art software and digital drawing tablets. I prefer to illustrate using Paint Tool Sai and Clip Studio Paint. I use the Wacom Intuos Pro and Wacom Cintiq 24" Pro tablets for drawing.

When creating new art, I start by sketching my design before moving on to apply linework and coloring/shading. Most of my illustrations are made in Sai and I transfer them to Clip Studio for finishing work and print prep. (Clip Studio is similar to Photoshop) I do not support or use AI in my work at all.
